Prescot Ladies win the Greater Manchester Hockey Summer League
After a mammoth series of hockey matches over the Summer, Prescot Ladies emerged victorious. In the first phase of the competition the ladies won their pool to qualify for League 1. The Prescot juniors in their first tournament also qualified from their pool into League 4. In this phase of the competition both teams had to play ten games over just 5 weeks and secure a top four finish to qualify for the semi finals. The Prescot Ladies finished third with 26 points and the Juniors won their league with a stunning 28 points.
The Juniors did amazingly well and won their semi final 3 1 against City of Manchester before going down 2 1 in the Final against a very strong Oldham senior side. A fantastic effort from the youngsters to win a silver medal in their very first competition!
In the League One Cup Prescot ladies beat hot favourites Didsbury Greys on penalties before defeating Didsbury Northern one nil in the Final to claim the main prize as Greater Manchester Summer League Champions.
The 2017 silverware is adding up already with the Mixed team winning the annual Golborne 7s for the third time in succession.
