Tell your Prescot Story – help make Prescot standout from the rest
Everyone has a story to tell and in 2022 – Knowsley’s ‘Borough of Culture’ year – it’s time to tell ours.
The ‘Borough of Culture’ title is awarded annually by the city region’s Combined Authority to one of its six local authorities and in 2022 Knowsley will hold the title.
As part of our Borough of Culture year, each town and village will have the opportunity tell their story – an opportunity to shine the light on the history, heritage, dreams and ambitions that make our towns and villages unique, and then share these stories throughout 2022 in a way that is different, imaginative, creative and celebratory.
We want to give as many individuals, communities and organisations as possible the opportunity to be part of Knowsley’s Borough of Culture year and shape the story of their own town or village. So, throughout this autumn, Knowsley’s Culture Team invite you to come along to Cultural Conversations in order to uncover the stories of people, places and magic that will inspire a programme of events, exhibitions, activities and performances to mark the milestone year.
We’d love you to join us and share your thoughts, hopes and ideas to shape this exciting project. You can book on to the Prescot event using the link below or call Katy on 0151 443 5749 to book a place

Christmas in Prescot is double the fun with Prescot Town Councils new Christmas Cracker event!
After an absence of four years Knowsley Council have returned with a bang to provide Christmas Lights in Prescot Town Centre. Close to £22,000 has been spent on lights alone through Blachere (one of Europe’s biggest lighting providers) this figure includes the £10,000 Blachere prize allocation won by Prescot Business Club. So in keeping with the Towns current renaissance Prescot really will be the brightest Town in the borough. The Town Centre Light Switch On will now take place at 6:30pm on the 16th November, there are other attractions throughout the day which begins at 2:00pm including a performance from the Jerseys with the event culminating with a firework display.
But the good news doesn’t stop there unlike Huyton and Kirkby, Prescot benefits from having a Town Council so Knowsley’s return to Christmas Lights has also freed up the Town Councils Christmas Lighting budget which now means that money can be used to provide an additional event in the Town Centre completely free of charge to residents, the Town Council are mindful of providing events that can be accessed by all our residents regardless of their budget.
The Town Council’s new ‘Christmas Cracker’ event will take place on the pedestrianised area of Church Street on the 14th December (12 days before Christmas) between 1pm and 4pm. Visitors can expect to enjoy performances from local artists including the winners of Prescot’s Got Talent and local school choirs and dance schools, ride Rodeo Rudolf, a Snowboard simulator and children’s fairground ride for our younger residents. Visitors will also be able to meet a whole host of Disney Characters and Superheroes, receive a free selection pack from the Mayor of Prescot and Prescot Citizen of the Year Clare Duvall who will also be judging the best dressed Elf Competition (under 12s) and the best Christmas Jumper Competition (over 12s) the winner of each category will receive a £25 Amazon Voucher, visitors will also be able to get a free glitter tattoo. As always Prescot Town Councillors will be on hand to provide those in attendance with free refreshments (tea coffee and hot chocolate) from the Town Council’s stall, the event will also provide an opportunity for local community group involvement ensuring this event continues to deliver something for everyone in Prescot.
