Prescot Town Council is saddened to announce the death of former Town Councillor Bill Sommerfield who has recently passed away peacefully aged 85. Bill served as a Town Councillor with Prescot Town Council and was the Mayor of Prescot on two occasions. Our deepest sympathies go out to his wife Cllr Marjorie Sommerfield and all his family and friends.

The Funeral will be held on Thursday 1st May 2025 at 12:45pm at Prescot Parish Church, followed at 2.00pm at St Helens Crematorium. All mourners are requested to wear yellow ties or yellow neck scarves if possible. Following the service at the Crematorium everyone who knew Bill past and present will be welcome to pay their respects at The Stanley Arms, Gillars Lane, WA10 5PT from 2.30pm.

Prescot has a rich tradition as a Town with a strong community, sometimes the efforts of particular individuals and groups stand out as being above and beyond that of a usual citizen. These groups and individuals are not always aware of the positive impact they can have, on both individuals and the wider community, and can go largely unsung for their actions.

In order to recognise these individuals and the positive contribution they make to the lives of others, the Town Council operate the Prescot Community Recognition Awards every year.

Prescot Town Council is saddened to announce the death of former Town Councillor Michael Friar who has recently passed away. Michael served as a Town Councillor with Prescot Town Council between 2011 and 2018. Our deepest sympathies go out to all his family and friends. Michael’s funeral will take place at St. Helen’s Crematorium on Tuesday 11th March 2025 at 10.00am.

Prescot Town Council is saddened to announce the death of former Town Clerk Geoff Pollitt who passed away last week.

Geoff served as Town Clerk for 18 years between 1993 and 2011; and was a much respected and valued member of the Prescot Community during his tenure.

His funeral will take place on Monday 24^th February 2025 at 12.15pm at St. Ann’s Church, Rainhill, followed by a short service at St Helen’s Crematorium at 2:00pm.
